This company is a total scam. I transcribed audio for them that was in an Indian accent it took 4 hours for me to transcribe 30 minutes of work and they didn't pay me $70 for the work.
I used correct spelling, grammar, and everything and got a 1/1.
They probably turned it in to whoever wanted the transcription done and pocketed the cash themselves. Sleazy company.
I think the whole new thing is automated and only receive the same message to everyone who is perfect. dont waste your time to online questions and take away from this kind of false five star Rev.
Rev.com is an AWESOME company! They have outstanding customer service, fair pricing, and a great program to easily put video closed caption on your videos as well as much more!
I would highly recommend them to anyone!!!
Anyone complaining about them is most likely unreasonable or unfair! Keep up the great work Rev.com!
Would you like a drink? Your mouth must be dry from the bootlicking.
If you can't make minimum wage at 0.54 - 0.90 per minute, then you don't work fast enough. That is $32.40 - $54 per audio hour.
PROFESSIONAL transcriptionists with degrees and experience in brick and mortar offices make $45-50 per audio hour on average. You can't expect Rev to pay ABOVE industry standard for inexperienced, freelance workers who don't even need a diploma. It isn't their fault if you can't work fast enough to make it worth your time.
They even ask people who type slower than 70wpm not to apply. I'm not trying to be rude, but if you only make $1 per hour then you just aren't fast enough for this type of work.
Professional transcriptionists get $1/audio minute. Rev pays less than half that.
Stop making excuses for substandard unethically low pay.
It IS Rev's fault they aren't paying adequately. Wise up.
I type 120 wpm and often barely get US minimum wage on Rev. It's often not the typing part, but the fact that you have to stop frequently to repeat poor quality audio or do research on some files.
I have just had the same experience! Just today, after I completed my first 3 projects very well, I suddenly got this email informing me that MY account was being closed.
There was no explanation!
That so-called organization obviously blackmails average American citizens into play acting, telling people what a great thing it is, but then, the program crashes, and you're fired minutes later! *** Rev!
I wouldn't go so far as to call them a scam, but they definitely deliberately underpay their ICs. There is no way to make a decent living working for them.
They get rich off of your work, while you get crumbs. They keep shortening the deadlines and raising the standards while at the same time lowering the pay. You won't even make close to minimum wage working for this place. They seem to have no scruples whatsoever when it comes to how they treat their transcriptionists or captioners.
The audio quality is usually horrible. Much of the time the speakers are unintelligible, there's excessive background noise, people are talking over each other, they have heavy accents, etc. So it's a struggle to earn your pathetic pay. It would be bad enough if the audio quality was great and you were paid less than minimum wage, but it's not.
For the type of audio they have, the wages should be at least TRIPLE what they pay.
Also they recently decided to lower the pay across the board as well, all the while crowing about how great their business was doing. What kind of people do that with a clear conscience? If their business was so wonderful, they should have been increasing the pay to their ICs, not slashing it.
Bottom-line: If you're a prospective worker--avoid this place. Your time is more valuable than what they pay.
If you're a prospective customer: Think about who you're dealing with. Have a conscience and some ethics and go with a company that compensates its workers fairly and pays decent wages--at least minimum wage, which Rev does not.
So very true. This guy's just fired me while in the middle of a 1.5-day job.
***! All my metrics were above the highest level required.
